What to Wear Rafting
We’ve all seen the show What Not to Wear, but have you ever questioned what you should wear during your whitewater adventure? Especially during an adrenaline-filled day on Clear Creek? Whitewater rafting in style is the best way to get out on that river. Make sure you know what to wear rafting so you remain safe in the most stylish way!
Stay Dry
The most crucial factor is that while you are in a raft, you will most likely get wet throughout your rapid ride. Make sure to pack clothes that are safe for water sports, such as dry-fit clothing, waterproof clothing, swimsuits and water shoes. We do not recommend wearing fabric such as cotton or denim that tends to stay wet for long periods. Stick to wool, polyester or fleece material if waterproof/quick-dry clothing is not readily available. Regarding footwear, leave your flip-flops, cowboy boots and high heels for the post-rafting activities.
Layer Up
Always check the weather and water temperature before your adrenaline-filled whitewater adventure. The temperature in mountain and water areas will be significantly lower than in places with lower elevations. Spring days may require heavier layers than a trip in mid-summer; know before you go to ensure you will remain comfortable throughout the journey. If you know what to wear rafting, you will be much more prepared to enjoy the whole experience!
Sun Protection
Remember that while whitewater rafting is a water sport, you will be in the direct sun for a minimum of two hours (weather permitting). Make sure you pack your sunscreen, sunglasses and hats to protect you from those radical UV rays. The last thing you want is a nasty sunburn to distract you from your post-rafting bar crawl in Idaho Springs.
A Good Attitude
A positive attitude is critical when questioning what to wear rafting. If you come in with an open mind and a good attitude, you are more than ready to experience those blazing rapids the right way!
