6 Activities to do During Your River Rafting Vacation

When going on a river rafting vacation, this activity may be your main focus. This is especially true if you don’t live near a river and are traveling a healthy distance to raft in a desirable area. While you can still look forward to taking part in this activity, it doesn’t have to be the only one that you plan. There are a lot of other fun things you can do while you’re on vacation so you can make the most of your trip.

1. Go Hiking

In most areas with rivers, there are beautiful places to hike. Take advantage of the trails around you on an afternoon when you don’t have anything else planned. Just make sure to bring snacks, a compass, safety equipment, water, and quality shoes. It’s also recommended to research each trail online or by asking locals to determine which is best for your skill level.

2. Camp

If you’re comfortable with being outdoors, then camping is something you’ll want to do while on your trip. Even if just for one night, this can get you back in touch with nature while you enjoy the outdoors without the city lights. If you aren’t able to bring camping equipment with you, there should be rentals available in the area you’ll be visiting.

3. Go Fishing

Fishing in a river can be a lot of fun, although it’s important to keep safety in mind while enjoying this activity. Fortunately, if you do, you’ll be able to explore the different types of fish that are located in the river and try your best at catching one. To ensure you’re comfortable, make sure to bring the right clothing, shoes, and a hat to help keep the sun off your face throughout the time you’ll be in the water.

4. Geocaching

One of the best things to do when on an outdoor expedition is to try your hand at geocaching. This activity is essentially a treasure hunt that is set up by people all over the world. You can find out where things are hidden by joining an online geocaching group. Through that, you can find coordinates for treasures near you and go out to find them. Don’t forget to hide things in return so someone else can have fun when they are in the same area.

5. Trail Biking

Trail biking is just like mountain biking, albeit on set trails rather than off the beaten path. With a bike, a helmet, and safety equipment, you can bike your way through the trails that are closest to you. Since you’ll be on a bike, you’ll be able to go farther than you would on foot, which can allow you to see more land than you would otherwise. If you enjoy taking photos or want to take in more of nature, this is one of the best ways to do it.

6. Have a Picnic

If you don’t have a lot of time to spend on activities, then a nice afternoon picnic can’t be beaten. Doing this on the side of the river is a great choice if you want to see the water before you take on your river rafting expedition.

Make the Most of Your Trip

Before you go on your river rafting vacation, take some time to plan out other activities you can partake in. Those listed above are some of the best because they don’t require a lot of planning and can help you see more of the beautiful outdoors.
